Mrs. Comfort Ocran, Co-Founder of Legacy & Legacy and an International motivational speaker has said that for an individual to fit in the corporate world, computer literacy is a prerequisite. According to her, a research conducted by the World Economic Forum reveals that by 2022, the services of data entry clerks would not be relevant since most people would be able to render their services and execute all other jobs that are not multidisciplinary.
She made these remarks at the opening of the Entrepreneurship Clinic 2019 where she spoke on the topic ‘The Current Job Market in Ghana; Implications for New Graduates’. Mrs. Ocran indicated to students how they could earn other degrees online while studying in KNUST. She added that, the job market is very competitive. Thus, anyone who intends to be distinct should not only concentrate on a program of study but also, increase skills development. Among the skills required are social intelligence, sense making, design mindset, computational skills, new media literacy, cognitive load management, novel and adaptive thinking, cross-cultural competencies among others.
In an exclusive interview with Mr. Samuel Yaw Akomea, Head of the Centre for Business Development (CBD) of KNUST, he stated that the aim of the clinic is to create awareness and knowledge of opportunities, challenges, attitudes and skills needed for entrepreneurship and venture creation.
The Entrepreneurship Clinic dubbed ‘Empowering the Youth through Entrepreneurship’ is a five weeks event, from 15th February to 14th of March, 2019. Each session comes off each Friday from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at the Great Hall, KNUST.
