As part of efforts to support the ‘Wellness Agenda’ of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, the Council of Convocation has organised the 2023 Edition of the Convocation Fun Games for members of convocation to commemorate this year’s Labour Day.
The event held on Monday, 1st May, 2023 at the Paa Joe Sports Stadium saw staff of the University engage in various outdoor and indoor games such as Ludo, Chess, Oware/Draught, Cards, Football, Volleyball, Tug of War, Sack race, Lime and Spoon , Athletics, and children’s games, among others.

In an opening ceremony, the Chairman of the Council of Convocation, Dr. Emmanuel De-Graft Johnson Owusu-Ansah, indicated that the event was in line with the Vice-Chancellor’s vision to ensure good health and wellness of staff. He thanked the Organising Committee for their tireless effort in ensuring the success of the event and further encouraged all members to participate in all the games.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson, lauded the Council for championing the ‘Wellness Agenda.’ She reiterated KNUST’s keenness in ensuring the wellness of its staff and as a result, she noted that the Wellness Centre was established to promote preventive health over curative health in the University community. She was enthusiastic about the programme and encouraged members of Convocation to participate in the subsequent editions.
At the end of the games, the College of Engineering won the final football match with the College of Science taking second place.
In Draught, Sack race (men and women), Tennis, and Ludo; Dr. Abdul Samed Muntaka; Mr. Evans Amponsah, Ms. Pauline Boachie-Ansah; and Dr. Emmanuel Kwesi Arthur emerged winners in the respective games.
Medals were given to the participants of the various games.
