Professor Emmanuel Kofi Akowuah, Director of the KNUST E-Learning Centre, has been honoured with an ICT Recognition Award at the National ICT Week 2026 Excellence Awards in recognition of his Outstanding Contribution to Advancing Digital Skills and Research.
The award, presented during the National ICT Week 2026 celebrations, acknowledges Professor Akowuah's sustained leadership in strengthening digital education, advancing research, and promoting technology-driven learning in Ghana.
A Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering and Director of the KNUST E-Learning Centre, Professor Akowuah has played a pivotal role in driving the University's digital transformation agenda. Under his leadership, the Centre has expanded the use of technology-enhanced teaching and learning, strengthened online and blended learning systems, and championed initiatives that have improved digital competencies among students and staff.
His work has also contributed to positioning KNUST as one of Africa's leading institutions in digital higher education, particularly through the adoption of innovative learning technologies, capacity-building programmes and strategic collaborations that support quality education in the digital age.
