The 2025 KNUST Act has strengthened the University’s executive leadership structure by formally recognising the appointment of more than one Pro Vice-Chancellor and introducing defined tenure and succession arrangements for senior officers.
Speaking at the launch of the Act, Chair of the Committee on the Act, Professor John Tia Bugri noted that the responsibilities placed on the Vice-Chancellor have expanded significantly, necessitating additional executive support.
“The responsibility placed on the Vice-Chancellor is enormous, and additional support is necessary for the future growth of the University,” he said.
The Act introduces fixed terms and term limits for the Vice-Chancellor, Pro Vice-Chancellors, Registrar and Director of Finance, while providing clear rules for acting appointments and succession.
