The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST) and Twellium Industrial Company Ltd have begun discussions on a strategic partnership to strengthen industry-academia collaboration in research, student training, staff development and graduate employment.
A delegation from Twellium visited KNUST on 1 October 2026 and held discussions with academic leaders, including the Heads of the Departments of Food Science and Technology, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
The discussions centred on developing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide a framework for the collaboration. Proposed areas include student internships and industrial attachments, collaborative research, sponsorships and scholarships, graduate recruitment and staff capacity building.
The partnership would provide KNUST students with greater exposure to industrial practice and create opportunities for researchers to work with industry to address practical challenges. Twellium would also have access to the University's expertise, research capabilities and pool of skilled graduates.
As part of the visit, the delegation paid a courtesy call on the Provost of the College of Engineering, who welcomed the initiative and expressed support for the proposed partnership. He urged both parties to expedite the formalisation of the collaboration and translate the discussions into practical initiatives with meaningful and lasting impact.
The visit represents an initial step towards a formal partnership between KNUST and Twellium aimed at advancing education, research, innovation and industrial development.
