The International Programmes Office (IPO) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has organized the second edition of its Easter Homestay programme for international and exchange students, with 100 students hosted by 36 staff members over the Easter holidays.
The four-day initiative, which ran from Good Friday, April 2, to Easter Monday, offered students the opportunity to celebrate Easter in a warm Ghanaian home environment while away from their families.
Easter, a significant period in the Christian calendar, commemorates the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and is often marked by reflection, family, and togetherness.
For many of the students, spending the season with KNUST staff made the 2026 celebration both memorable and enriching.
They said the programme gave them the rare opportunity to experience Ghanaian hospitality and family values firsthand, adding that they intend to carry those values into their own lives.
“Ghanaians are extremely hospitable and welcoming,” said Leticia Kore Wane, a student from Côte d’Ivoire.
She added that having such a refreshing experience before examinations and during Easter made the homestay even more meaningful.
Speaking on behalf of the international students, Divine Jaja Tamunoiprinye, President of the International Students Association and a Nigerian student, expressed appreciation to the IPO for the initiative.
“We are grateful to the IPO for making this experience a memorable one,” he said.
The IPO also thanked the 36 staff volunteers for opening their homes to the students, noting that their hospitality helped foster meaningful and lasting relationships within KNUST’s international community.
