Management and staff of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi have held their annual prayer and thanksgiving service to mark the end of the academic year and express gratitude for its successful completion.
Speaking at the brief service, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson, described the gathering as “a morning of appreciation,” and called on the University community to acknowledge what she said was God’s guidance and protection throughout the year.
“We cannot thank God enough. He has brought us this far, and He continues to remain the God of this University, and His divine guidance will remain constant in the years ahead,” Professor Dickson said.
The Vice-Chancellor paid tribute to staff of the University, commending their hard work, commitment and dedication, which she described as central to KNUST’s continued progress.
“If we have come this far, it is not just because we have checked the boxes, but because you have held the work in your corner. That is why KNUST continues to thrive,” she said, saluting staff for their collective contribution to the University’s achievements.
She also expressed appreciation to students, industrial partners, alumni, friends of the University and the University Council, describing the Council as the highest decision-making body responsible for policy direction and oversight.
As the academic year draws to a close, Professor Dickson urged staff to take time to rest and spend time with their families.
“You deserve it. You have earned it. Go home, rest well, and come back re-energised and recharged,” she said.
Looking ahead, the Vice-Chancellor called on the University community to recommit to KNUST’s next phase of growth, stressing the need to move from excellence to eminence in line with the vision of the University Council Chair.
“Moving from excellence to eminence will take all of us. Every role matters, from top management to the very last staff member,” she said.
Professor Dickson concluded by thanking staff for their cooperation and dedication throughout the year and extended goodwill messages to the KNUST community.
“On behalf of the University Council, Management, staff and students, I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a peaceful, prosperous New Year,” she said.
