The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST), is exploring a potential collaboration with Maxwell/EQUIP Leadership Ghana to strengthen leadership development among students and staff.

The discussions took place during a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Christian Agyare, by a delegation led by the Country Director of Maxwell/EQUIP Leadership Ghana, Ambassador Bernard Quarm.
Mr. Quarm introduced the organisation’s Beyond Success Transformation Leadership Program, which seeks to equip individuals with the values and practical skills needed for effective leadership. He proposed extending the programme to university staff, student leaders and emerging leaders to complement academic training.
“Our mission is to be a help or a support to leaders like you to be able to function even more credibly well,” he said.
He explained that the proposed training would focus on self-confidence and self-awareness, ethical leadership and practical leadership skills. Delivery could combine in-person and online sessions to fit the University’s academic calendar, with a proposed sponsored arrangement designed to avoid financial costs to the University and participating students.

Professor Agyare welcomed the proposal, emphasising the importance of leadership development to KNUST’s ambition of moving from excellence to eminence.
“As a university, we will embrace any initiative that will shape and improve the leadership skills of all students and staff,” he said.
The Vice-Chancellor encouraged the organisation to target both established leaders and young people who had yet to assume formal leadership positions, noting that developing leadership skills early could prepare them to make sound decisions and positively influence society.
He also recommended a blend of in-person and virtual training to accommodate the University’s operational demands and efforts to return to its traditional academic calendar.
Professor Agyare asked the delegation to submit a detailed proposal outlining the programme, its target participants and implementation arrangements for further consideration.
