Enactus Ghana has organised a training workshop for brilliant but needy students at the KNUST School of Business (KSB). The workshop, themed, ‘Laptops for Growth’ was held at the Ayim Complex, KNUST. The workshop was organised in line with the Vice-Chancellor’s vision to support brilliant but needy students with laptop computers through the ‘SONSOL’ Project.
The Programs Manager of Enactus Ghana, Mr. Evans Hokey in an interview with the University Relations Office (URO) revealed that, Standard Chartered Bank Ghana donated thirty (30) laptop computers in support of the ‘SONSOL’ Project and as part of their package, the Bank additionally offered sponsorship to help in the organisation of the training workshop to nurture and equip the participants for industry.
According to Mr. Hokey, the workshop was necessary to help participants explore and implement other available options due to the adverse effect caused by the Covid-19 pandemic on businesses and hence took participants through online business principles and modern trends in doing business using technology.
He explained that the training was to augment the University’s initiative to support brilliant but needy students with the requisite knowledge for industry. Mr. Hokey assured the beneficiaries that, they plan to connect them with donors and partners to secure scholarships for them.
On behalf of the participants, he thanked Standard Chartered Bank Ghana for their immense support in the education of less endowed students in KNUST and appealed for more support from other corporate bodies to come to the aid of other students who are yet to benefit from the 'SONSOL' initiative launched by the Vice-Chancellor Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson.
