Mr. Richard Bruce Lamptey, the Deputy Librarian of the College of Health Sciences (CHS) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has donated about 40 British National Formulary (BNF) books to the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (FPPS). The presentation was made at a short ceremony on Friday, 18th February 2022 at the CHS Board Room.
According to Mr. Richard Bruce Lamptey, the donation was facilitated by Mr. Ebenezer Cobbinah, a medical student at London Metropolitan University, who showed interest in assisting the FPPS with recent versions of the BNF which, he believes, would serve as reference materials for current and prospective students of the Faculty.
The BNF is a pharmacological reference book with a broad range of information and guidance on prescription and pharmacology, as well as particular facts and data on numerous drugs accessible via the UK National Health Service.
The Provost of College of Health Sciences, Professor Christian Agyare, receiving the donation remarked that the BNF books are significant addition to the College’s book stock and will enhance teaching and learning to aid the College and the entire University in achieving its core mandates.
The College Finance Officer, Mr. Felix Obeng Boateng, expressed his gratitude to the benefactors and assured them that the books would be put to good use. “Many thanks for the donation. We appreciate it. We hope that the gesture continues, and I would want to assure you that it will be properly used. Both the students and the lecturers will benefit from it,” he said.
Others present at the donation were Professor Victoria Bubunyo Bam, Head of the Department of Nursing; Professor Nicholas Titiloye, Head of the Department of Pathology; Professor Benjamin Emikpe, the Dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine and Miss Adeline Angkosaala, Registrar for Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
