Fellows from the American Council on Education, the major coordinating body for higher education institutions in America has visited Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. The delegation was made up of Administrators and Academics from the various education institutions in the U.S.A.
The leader of the delegation, Jessica Elfebein, Associate Provost of University of Baltimore expressed her profound gratitude to the Pro-Vice Chancellor for receiving them in a wonderful and friendly manner. She gave a brief account of the group saying, the fellowship addresses the development needs of current and aspiring leaders by providing informative networking opportunities for them.
She further said that, the fellowship also serves as a platform that provides assistance on specific issues that threaten to undermine educational institutions. She subsequently presented their mission for coming to the University. She said they were here to learn and research into issues of successive planning and develop efforts that would improve their efficiency and effectiveness as they are aspiring to climb the academic ladder, to assume leadership positions in tertiary institution.
The Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. W. O. Ellis who welcomed them on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, provided them with background information about the University. He presented an outline of the various programmes in the University. He made mention of collaborative researches and programmes the University has engaged in with institutions and organisations within and outside the country.
Dr. Joseph Ofei Darko, the Vice Dean for International Programmes also gave a brief but concise presentation of the University.
Prof. Ellis said that, the University Council is the highest governing body of the University and constitutes representatives from the government and the institution.
At the end of the meeting, the delegates ceased the opportunity to tour some places of interest on campus.
