In line with its mandate of providing quality education through highly technological and modern means, the Institute of Distance Learning (IDL) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has organised a training workshop for Senior Members including both administrative and academic Staff.
The workshop was aimed at training IDL staff, and to elaborate them on the advances made so far by the Institute and the way forward. The participants were taken through various software designed to help facilitate distance learning program including enhancements in text, live video, graphics etc.
The participants were also clued-up on the need for the development of distance learning as the way forward for KNUST. It was highlighted that whereas the infrastructural facilities of the school has developed at a rather slow pace, interest in the school has grown as a result of Staff commitment and dedication to excellence. This, has subsequently amounted to large number of applicants both from home and abroad which the school cannot accommodate due to the limited classrooms.
Again, the modern pace of life makes it difficult for many to access quality education during normal class hours. So in keeping with the changing times, it is a necessity for the school to advance the frontiers of its distance learning.
The participants also had the opportunity to contribute ideas to fuel the drive of the IDL in its pursuit of excellence, and pushing forward the frontiers of teaching and learning at KNUST.
