The office of the Dean of Students has organised a two-day workshop on disaster management and prevention for Hall Administrators, Hostel Managers and Operators, Head Porters, Student Executives, Student Cadet Corps, among others.
The purpose of the training was to identify the methods to reduce the impact and frequency of disasters by outlining the processes through which the University could respond to disasters in order to minimise casualty to property and human life.
Participants were taken through courses like Disaster Management, Physical structures and their safety measures, Emergencies- the role of the University Security, how to prevent Fire outbreak, First Aid application, post traumatic counseling, and more.
Present at the workshop were the Vice-Chancellor Prof. K. K. Adarkwa, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof .W. O. Ellis, A. B Mutari, Regional Coordinator (NADMO), Rev. Ben Oppong, Director of Works, Ag. Deputy Registrar (Legal), Col. W. K. Addo, Head of Security Services, Hope Appiah Chief Fire Officer, Rev. Dr. P. K. Boafo Protestant Chaplain, REV..SR. (DR), Emily Owusu Ansah, SMS and other Senior Members of staff.
It is anticipated that this would go a long way to help reduce, if not prevent altogether, any unforeseen circumstances as with regard to disasters.
