A five-man delegation from Uganda has paid a visit to KNUST for the purpose of bench-marking best practices in education, administration and legal issues in higher institutions. The delegation comprised members of the Ugandan Parliament and some senior staff from the Makerere University.
The leader of the delegation, Hon. Seninde Rosemary, Member of Parliament and Chairperson on Social Services of the Parliament of Uganda, said the delegation embarked on the benchmark visit to some Ghanaian Universities because the Ugandan government wants to amend its Act on Ugandan Universities and other public tertiary institutions.
Hon. Seninde further explained that parliamentarians were part of the delegation because they represent the people, and also analyse educational issues and policy in parliament. She said her delegation had earlier visited the University of Ghana. Again they had met some members of the Ghanaian Parliament to acquaint themselves with legislative procedures and work in Ghana which would be of immense help to them as they embark on some legislative reviews in Uganda in due course.
The Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. W.O. Ellis welcomed the Ugandan delegation to KNUST and stated that KNUST is the most preferred university in Ghana and West Africa. Again, it is the University with a serene and a well kept green environment in the heart of the Garden City with numerous tourism potential.
The Uganda delegation subjected the Pro Vice- Chancellor to a lot of questions which he answered and explained very well to them.
