The Institute of Distance Learning (IDL) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is preparing to launch a new self-paced learning platform, IDL Skills-Up, next month.
This innovative platform is designed to provide accessible, flexible, and high-quality education to learners worldwide.

The announcement was made by the Director of the Institute, Professor Anthony Andrews, during a courtesy visit by the newly constituted University Governing Council to the IDL Centre in Takoradi.
Professor Andrews explained that the Skills-Up platform will begin with courses in Information Systems and will gradually expand to include other in-demand areas such as business and entrepreneurship, data science, communication, digital marketing, and leadership development.
According to him, the vision behind Skills-Up is to create a global learning environment where students can access quality tutoring at their convenience and tutors can reach learners from across the world.
He noted that Skills-Up is not tied to any single physical location and is intended to serve learners everywhere through personalized and interactive virtual sessions.
The platform allows users to choose their preferred time slots, select their type of session, confirm booking details, make payments, and receive instant confirmation, all within a streamlined digital experience.
The Chairman of the University Council, Akyamfuor Asafo Boakye Agyemang-Bonsu, commended the Institute for its continued innovation and urged the leadership to sustain its commitment to impact and excellence.
