The Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, His Excellency Sugandh Rajaram, with the Ashanti Regional Minister, Honourable Simon Osei Mensah, and Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson have commissioned the e-VidyaBharti (Tele-education) and e-ArogyaBharti (E-VBAB) Centre. The state of art E-Learning Centre under the E-VBAB Project was commissioned on Monday, 13th December 2021 at the Evans Anfom Auditorium, KNUST.

The E-VBAB Network Project is primarily a technological upgrade and extension of the Pan-African e-network project implemented in 48 partner countries across Africa. The project aims to provide local employment, education, and medical expertise from India to African students. It also offers an opportunity for global acceptance of the Indian University Education System and Indian Medical Health Services.

Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson, Vice-Chancellor, noted that coping with the effects of Covid-19 has forced the Institution to make optimum use of its e-learning platforms for teaching and learning. She went on to say that the University is working hard to guarantee that its e-learning platforms are stable and reliable, and that the Center will help the University achieve that goal. According to her, the Centre would assist many University students and personnel, as well as people from outside the country. She also emphasized the importance of collaborations at KNUST, promising to continue working hard to expand them to achieve good results.

His Excellency Rajaram, who commissioned the project, noted that the Centre represents a promising start for telemedicine and tele education programs, and that he looks forward to exploring methods to expand India-Ghana collaborations.

'The motive for attending school hasn't changed, but the way to acquire education has, thus the Centre is one of the ways to ensure that no one is left behind in obtaining education,' says the Regional Minister. Honourable Simon Osei Mensah praised the Indian government for their ongoing educational engagement.

The Asantehene's Representative, Nana Addae Gyamera I, Feyiasehene, stated that the facility is one of the most solid centres he has come across for fostering communication in online education. He admitted that the Asantehene, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has been fighting poverty, ignorance, and diseases, and he feels that the E-VBAB Centre will assist him because everyone can have access to education from anywhere.

According to Nana Addae Gyamera I, he looks forward to the centre’s future upgrades, growth, and installation of new technologies.

Briefing the group on the facility, Professor Eric Asante of the Department of Educational Innovations in Science and Technology explained that it would act as a resource Centre for prospective candidates and facilitators in the many Indian Partner Institutions under the E-VBAB Project. He went on to say that the E-VBAB Centre would also serve as a learning/examination Centre for eight Indian partners, including Sastra University, Amity University, Bharati Vidyapeeth, Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education, Swayam and Research Chandigarh, and Mampal Academy of Higher Education.

There are 26 Dell PCs, 1 Henrich speaker with amplifier, 2 CCTV cameras, 2 Hikvision televisions, 1 HP printer, 1 Epson flatbed scanner, 1 Dell server, 3 Dell switches, and dedicated power backup and server rooms at the facility.
