The Department of Animal Science of the Faculty of Agriculture, KNUST in collaboration with Rabbit Farmers Association of Ghana, and the Department of Agriculture, Ashanti Region have organised a three-day workshop dubbed “Training for Trainers (ToT)” for Rabbit Farm Trainers.
The workshop themed, “Capacity Building for Instructors in the use of the Newly Developed Modules in Rabbit Breeding, Production, Processing and Marketing” was held from 22nd to 24th July 2020 and sponsored by the Skill Development Fund (SDF).
Dr. Kwaku Adomako, Principal Investigator for the SDF project, in his remarks, said the workshop was intended to educate participants on the use of new modules in rabbit farming that have emerged over the years. He expressed the need to embrace the modules in order for rabbit farming to excel in the country.
He further urged participants to take the workshop as an opportunity to upgrade their knowledge and improve their capacity in training Rabbit Farmers. Dr. Adomako intimated that subsequent workshops would be organised for rabbit farmers.
Participants were taken through theory and practical sessions on topics such as Principles of breeding, Rabbit Health Management, Processing and packaging of rabbit meat, etc.
Facilitators for the workshop were Dr. Kwaku Adomako, Dr. Jacob Alhassan Hamidu, Dr. Robert Aidoo, Mr. Worlah Akwetey and Mr. Godwin Deku and Dr. Julius Hagan from University of Cape Coast.
