The Out-going FUSSAG President, Asare Bediako, was grateful to members of the association for their cooperation during his term of office. He advised the Incoming Executives to tread cautiously in dealing with issues and to consult experts when the need arises. Mr. Bediako further advised the new executives to continue the good works they left behind.
Joseph Agalik Agalik, the Incoming Chairman, paid tribute to their predecessors for their dedication and contributions towards the growth of the Association.
Mr. Agalik noted that using violence and mayhem in fighting for better conditions of service had become a thing of the past. This is because modern-day negotiations are best done through dialogue. As such, during his tenure they would push for better working conditions for the senior staff.
He said his priority areas would be promotions and staff welfare. He further challenged the University to change certain rules which do not augur well for staff.
Professor Peter Donkor, the Pro Vice-Chancellor pledged management’s commitment to the welfare of workers.
There were solidarity messages from the Trade Union Congress, Regional Labour Office, Teachers and Educational Workers Union (TEWU), Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) and University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG).
