As part our objective to develop, motivate and retain high caliber staff, TCC organized an orientation workshop for its recently recruited seven National Service personnel on Monday September 17, 2012 at the conference room.
The workshop under theme; “Refreshing our hearts and minds” was organized to primarily give the personnel an overview of what TCC is about, its vision and what exactly is expected of them during the period of work.
The director of TCC, Dr. George Obeng in his presentation took the personnel on a trip down memory lane explaining why TCC was established, its focus, role it played in Ghana, the challenges faced and the way forward. According to the director, TCC’s focus now is to enhance development of sound technology based industries in Ghana with small and medium enterprises, SME’s. Underpinning this mission is research, development, consultancy, transfer of appropriate technology aimed at sustainable livelihood enterprise development, wealth creation and poverty reduction.
In attendance at the workshop was; Mr. Don Amrago, Head of the Graduate Entrepreneurship Training and Youth Empowerment Unit (GET‐YE), Mr. Michael K Adjaloo, Head of Food, Agriculture and Natural Resource Development Unit (FAND), Mr. Michael Commeh, Head of Applied Industrial Ceramics and Rural Enterprise Development Unit (AIC‐RED).
On his part, Mr. Michael Commeh admonished the personnel to be self-motivated and take initiative whiles working on the various research projects. Advising the personnel, Mr. Michael Adjaloo entreated them to take advantage of the friendly staff to learn various work ethics that would help them in life. The underlying value principles exposed by all the research fellows present were “hard work, respect, and a heart to learn”
The attendees of the workshop were well refreshed by Cecelia Turkson, the administrative secretary of TCC. The orientation ended with a tour to the newly refurbished state of the art office complex of TCC and other laboratories.
