The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Arkansas University on 25th June 2022 at the International Programmes Office (IPO).
The purpose of the MoU is to collaborate in Agricultural Sciences, Aquaculture/Fisheries and Natural Sciences. To facilitate this, the parties will strengthen faculty and staff professional development, promote awareness of global trends impacting agriculture and other fields of interest, and conduct collaborative research and community engagement.
According to Dr. Nina Lyon Bennett, the Assistant Dean of Academics, the goal of the partnership is to create an immersive experience for the students by engaging in a collaborative relationship with KNUST for mutual benefit. She promised that the collaboration would not be a one-way linkage but rather, the two universities would offer ideas on academics and other extra curricula activities to the benefit of both institutions.
The Dean of International Programmes Office (IPO), Professor Daniel Y. A. Duah stated that the University has more than 500 active MoUs which emphasises how KNUST values partnerships. On behalf of the University, he thanked Arkansas University for coming on board to partner with KNUST.
The Dean of Agriculture, Professor Enoch Osekre was of the belief that such collaborations project institutions of higher learning. He, thus, fully welcomed the idea of the collaboration. He promised that KNUST would do its part to ensure that the collaboration becomes fruitful.
Accompanying Dr. Bennett were Dr. Emmanuel Asiamah, Assistant Professor of Animal Science, and Ms. Annette Williams Fields, Instructor/Counsellor of the Department of Basic Academic Services.
