The TCC International Centre for Innovation, Manufacturing, Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship (TCC-CIMET), in partnership with the Ghana Institution of Engineers (GhIE) and the Centre for Capacity Development and Manufacturing (CECADEM), is set to provide training in Quality Management Systems (QMS) in Stuttgart, Germany. Quality Management Systems are structured frameworks of policies, processes, and procedures that organizations use to ensure their products and services consistently meet customer requirements and regulatory standards.
The training program is designed to equip Ghanaian professionals with practical insights into how QMS is implemented globally, while tailoring lessons to local operational realities. In a conversation with Quality Auditor, Mrs. Matilda Freda Marful, highlighted the value of international exposure.
She noted that the program provides participants with opportunities to see how QMS frameworks are applied in leading institutions abroad, while interacting with practitioners to ask practical questions about the processes that helped them reach such levels of excellence.
"The upcoming training in Germany presents a unique opportunity for institutions to gain firsthand insights into the strategies, systems, and best practices that enable top-ranking institutions to consistently maintain their positions of excellence.
By engaging with leading experts and learning from proven models, participants will be better equipped to strengthen their structures, enhance performance, and foster excellence and innovation within their institutions,” she said.
She further stressed the importance of contextualizing quality management practices.
“One important thing about learning is adaptation. You cannot simply adopt management models as they are, because they were not designed with your context in mind. Too often, people attend trainings and return with frameworks tailored for the U.S. or Europe, while their organizations operate in Ghana. Here, many unique factors must be considered for any system to be truly effective. That is why such trainings are important they allow us to put the system in context, helping organizations position themselves to compete globally,” she explained.
The upcoming training will include visits to selected institutions in Germany, ensuring that participants not only learn best practices but also explore how these can be adapted to Ghana’s unique industrial landscape.
President of the Ghana Institution of Engineers, Ing. Ludwig Hesse, also added “that the training will not only expose participants to global standards of excellence but also enhance the capacity of organizations to deliver quality in their operations and services, foster innovation, and align with international benchmarks that drive sustainable growth and competitiveness.”
The Director-General of TCC-CIMET, Prof. Francis Davis, stated that the training aligns with the vision of the Centre and its partners to strengthen capacity building and advance excellence in service delivery.
“This training initiative reflects the commitment of TCC-CIMET, GhIE and CECADEM to build the capacity of Ghanaian professionals and industries. By combining global best practices with local realities, the program aims to strengthen organizational performance, boost competitiveness, and support Ghana’s drive toward industrial growth and international recognition,” he said.
The 10-day training program is scheduled to begin on October 19 and conclude on October 26.
