The University Relations Office (URO) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has received over 500 applications from students across all colleges for the Student Communicators Internship Programme.
The initiative, aimed at equipping students with practical skills in journalism, photography, videography, social media management, and institutional storytelling, has attracted interest from diverse academic backgrounds, reflecting the growing enthusiasm for digital communication and content creation on campus.
Speaking on the development, the University Relations Officer, Dr. Daniel Norris Berkoe described the response as a positive indicator of student interest in enhancing KNUST’s visibility and engagement.
“We are delighted by the number and diversity of applications. It shows that our students are not only interested in academic excellence but also in being part of shaping the KNUST narrative,” Dr. Berkoe said.
The URO has outlined a multi-stage selection process that will involve an initial eligibility screening, skills assessment, and interviews to select a final cohort of 20–30 interns.
The programme will also consider creating a volunteer pool to engage other strong applicants in event coverage and special projects.
Selected interns will undergo an orientation and training workshop to familiarise them with KNUST’s communication standards, ethics, and brand identity before taking on assignments.
They will contribute to content for the University’s official website, social media platforms, and newsletters, covering events, campus life, academic achievements, and community impact stories.
