Director of University Information Technology Systems (UITS), Mr. Emmanuel Afful, is encouraging Deans and Heads of Departments to make full use of the available IT tools to enhance their administrative duties.
“KNUST systems have been designed for your convenience and are accessible at your disposal,” he said.
Speaking at the final day of the 2-day workshop organised by the Human Resources Development Division for Deans and Heads of Departments, he also hinted at an upcoming training workshop to equip faculty members with these emerging IT tools.

The Director of the School of Graduate Studies, Professor Michael Boansi, stressed the critical role of Heads of Departments (HoDs) in maintaining the quality of postgraduate education. He reminded them that while graduate programs are managed by the Graduate School, HoDs have a key role to play in ensuring that these programs deliver the quality needed to make KNUST a center of excellence.
“Graduate students are admitted by your departments, and their success is your responsibility. HoDs must be actively involved in the admission and supervision process to ensure that our graduate programs uphold the highest standards of quality and excellence,” he stated.

Furthermore, the Internal Auditor, Mr. Moses Tsiquaye, urged participants to embrace audit reports as tools for continuous improvement.
“Internal auditors are not policemen. Your cooperation during audits is crucial, and our audit reports should be welcomed and embraced,” he stated.
Mr. Duke Agyeman Fredua, Director of Procurement, also advised them to actively participate in the procurement decision-making process to ensure smooth and transparent financial operations.
“Exercise patience for the process and be actively involved in the procurement decision-making process of your faculty or department,” he noted.
Speaking on the governance of examinations, Professor William Akanwariwiak stressed, “There should be a policy to check lecturer absenteeism if there is none.”
