The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Junior High School (JHS) has held a joint retirement and graduation ceremony at its premises to mark the school’s 20th graduation.
The event was held under the theme: “The New Curriculum: An Avenue to Direct the Career Path of Learners Beyond the Classroom, Through Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship.”

Deputy Head of KNUST JHS, Mr. Eric Oti-Attah, delivered his final welcome address, expressing heartfelt gratitude for the period he served in administration.
He admonished the graduating students and highlighted key achievements that contributed to the school's progress during his tenure.
“This ceremony is to bid farewell to the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (B.E.C.E.) candidates. The school also seeks to honour and celebrate the graduates for their resilience and commitment to various school activities,” Mr. Oti-Attah said.
“To the graduates, I urge you to remain focused, determined, and confident. As you continue to senior high school, ensure you perform well in your academics and raise the flag of KNUST JHS high by exhibiting good moral values in your new environment.”
Mr. Oti-Attah recounted notable achievements under his leadership, stating, “A student from the 2025 graduating class placed fourth in the International Spelling Bee Contest held in the United States.
The school also placed second in the 2015 National School Drawing Contest on Climate Change.
Furthermore, we emerged first in the National Junior Science and Mathematics Quiz in 2017, 2023, and 2024. We also won first place in a Spelling Bee Contest organised by the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) in the Ashanti Region. For the first time, the school participated in the Chinese Bridge Contest at the University of Cape Coast and emerged first.”
He added, “In sports, the school won first place in the 2019 Inter-Universal Basic Games in Legon, and again secured first position in the 2023 Boys’ Soccer and Athletics Games, also held in Legon.”

Director of Education for Oforikrom Municipality, Mrs. Dorothy Oparebea Baidoo, commended both retirees and graduates in a goodwill message, applauding their dedication and achievements.
“I wish to express my deepest gratitude and take my hat off to the retirees for their service to education and Mother Ghana. Ayeeko for a job well done.
Your legacy will continue to inspire future generations of learners,” she said. “To my hardworking graduates, remember that your journey is unique, and your path may not be linear. Stay focused, determined, and true to yourselves.
Always uphold the moral values you’ve learnt both at school and at home. Graduation is not an end, but the beginning of a new journey – don’t remain where you are.”

As part of the ceremony, both graduates and retirees were presented with awards in recognition of their contributions to the school’s growth. Forty-two students received honours in categories including Best in Subject, Academic Excellence, Overall Academic Performance, Outstanding Academic Performance, and the Selfless and Meritorious Award.
In addition, the 2005 Year Group of KNUST JHS launched their 20th Anniversary initiative, aiming to give back to their alma mater in appreciation of the school’s investment in their development and success.
