Old Students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Junior High School (JHS) have donated eight brand new Dell computers and accessories to their alma mater. Kobby Amoah Mensah in presenting the computers on behalf of the Alumni Association stated that the donation was to show appreciation for what KNUST JHS had done for them and to let the current students know that every knowledge imparted to them would make them global leaders.
Mr. Amoah Mensah stated that Information Communication Technology (ICT) was very critical and hoped the donation would help in the development of the individual skills and knowledge of the pupils for the total development of Ghana. He advised the students to learn hard as the knowledge they gained would take them far in life.
Professor Mrs. Rita Dickson, Board Chairperson, said the joy of teachers becomes complete when they see that they are obtaining good results and encouraged students to learn harder. She noted that the fact that ICT continued to play a great role in our daily lives could not be overemphasised and she was grateful that the old students had found it expedient to come to the aid of the school.
Prof. Mrs. Dickson said the donation of the computers was timely as the 120-seater capacity ICT centre under construction would be completed by the end of this year. The Board Chairperson also urged the past students to adopt facilities of the school in order to help maintain them. She pledged the support of university management and the board to their cause.
In a related development, Ms. Aretha Yorke Sabeng, on behalf of the alumni presented the Evans Koka Award of two hundred and fifty Ghana Cedis (¢250) to the most improved student, Agnes Appiah.
Eric Oti Attah, the headmaster, was full of praise for the alumni as two years ago, they made a donation of six thousand (¢6,000) cedis to needy but brilliant students of the school. He encouraged present students to learn from the benevolence of their seniors and aspire to greater heights to support the school in future.
