The School of Medical Sciences (SMS) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has received a GH₵72,000 donation from the Class of 2002 to support the SMS Alumni Legacy Project.
The donation was presented during a courtesy visit to the school, which brought together the Dean of the School, Prof. Akwasi Antwi-Kusi, and representatives of the 2002 graduating class.
Prof. Antwi-Kusi expressed appreciation for the cohort’s longstanding contribution to the institution, noting that alumni support has been instrumental to the development of the school.
“Without the support of the alumni, we couldn’t have run the school. They have donated many things to help, not only in cash, but in kind,” he said.
Representing the group, Dr. Charles Hammond said the donation is intended to help the school meet its urgent needs and strengthen the learning environment for medical students.
The Dean again commended the gesture and encouraged the alumni to mobilise wider participation from colleagues who could not attend.
“We have many projects on our list, and we need everyone on board to help. To this end, we ask for more support,” he added.
