The Faculty of Built Environment (FoBE) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST) has inaugurated a Planning Committee to steer preparations for the 9th International Conference on Infrastructure Development in Africa (ICIDA), which the university will host.
The Dean of FoBE, Professor Emmanuel Adinyira, tasked the committee with delivering a “world-class international conference” that aligns with KNUST’s global eminence agenda and advances discourse on sustainable infrastructure development across the continent.
ICIDA has established itself as a leading platform for dialogue and collaboration among scholars, researchers, policymakers and industry professionals focused on infrastructure transformation in Africa. Previous editions have been hosted by KNUST, the University of Johannesburg in South Africa, Bells University of Technology in Nigeria, and Lagos State Polytechnic in Nigeria.
The Planning Committee is co-chaired by Professor Kofi Agyekum and Dr. Eric K. Simpeh. Other members are Dr. Desmond Opoku, Dr. Michael Osei-Asibey, Dr. Kwabena Obeng Asiama, Dr. Michael Adesi, Dr. (Mrs) Anita Odame Adade-Boateng, Dr. Kafui Ocloo, Dr. (Mrs) Akosua Baah K. Amaka-Otchere, and Dr. Emmanuel Banahene Owusu.
An International Advisory Committee, made up of past ICIDA Conference Directors, was also inaugurated to provide strategic guidance. Members include Professor Divine K. Ahadzie (KNUST, Ghana), Professor Clinton Aigbavboa (University of Johannesburg, South Africa), Professor De-Graft Owusu-Manu (KNUST, Ghana), Professor Willington Didibhuku Thwala (Walter Sisulu University, South Africa), Dr. Obuks Ejohwomo (University of Manchester, United Kingdom), and Professor Clifford Amoako (KNUST, Ghana).
