The Provost of the College of Health Sciences (CHS) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Professor Christian Agyare, on behalf of the University Management, has presented cheques amounting to One Hundred and Twenty-Five Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH₵125,000.00) to support the “Heal Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) Project.”
Professor Agyare emphasised the symbolic relationship between KNUST and KATH, noting that the hospital has been training students from the College for the past fifty (50) years. "It is only fitting that the University supports the hospital to ensure that it continues to provide a high-quality training ground for our students," he remarked. He also appealed to the general public to assist in the renovation efforts of KATH, emphasising the project's significance as a worthy cause.

On behalf of KNUST and the College of Health Sciences Board, he presented cheques of One Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH₵100,000.00) and Fifteen Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH₵15,000.00), respectively. Additionally, Professor Agyare made a personal donation of Ten Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH₵10,000.00) towards the Project which was launched last year by the Asantehene and Chancellor of KNUST, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to raise Ten Million Dollars ($10,000,000.00) for the renovation of the old blocks at KATH.
In addition to the financial contribution, Professor Agyare noted that the University has provided technical expertise for the Project Design and acquiring equipment for the hospital. He reiterated his call for widespread support, reminding the public that anyone could become a patient at the facility.

The Chairman of the “Heal KATH Project,” Mr. Samuel Adu-Boakye, expressed gratitude to KNUST for the support, noting that it would significantly contribute to the Project's success. He explained that the Project is a partnership between the KATH, Manhyia Palace, and the Project Committee, aimed at giving KATH a facelift befitting its status as a tertiary health facility and a referral centre. He disclosed that the Project which was initially planned to be completed within twenty-four (24) months, may extend to thirty-six (36) months due to some challenges with space. ‘The usual hospital operations have affected the renovation speed. However, we remain hopeful that the project will be completed on time, benefiting Ghanaians with an improved facility,’ he stated.
Mr. Adu-Boakye also highlighted the Project's commitment to sourcing most materials locally, with only essential items being imported. He assured the public that funds raised would be judiciously spent, primarily on local goods and services.

Receiving the cheques on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer of KATH, Dr. Kwadwo Sarbeng, Medical Director of KATH, thanked the Management of KNUST for their kind gesture and promised that the money donated would be used for its intended purpose for the benefit of Asanteman and Ghanaians at large.
The team from KNUST had a tour of the facility to assess the progress of the ongoing renovation works.
