As part of efforts to protect staff of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, two philanthropists based in the United States of America (USA), Dr. Yaw Adu-Gyamfi of the Liberty University and Dr. Anyani-Boadum Oheneba have donated ten thousand (10,000) pieces of nose masks to the University.
Receiving the items on behalf of the University, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Kwesi Obiri-Danso, thanked them for their kind gesture. He stated that, the items have come timely because of the recent directive from the Ghana Health Service advising that, all Ghanaians must wear nose masks as part of measures to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Prof. Obiri-Danso urged all staff to use the nose mask that will be distributed to all staff in addition to adhering to the existing protocols - regular washing of hands, social distancing and use of hand sanitisers outlined by the Ministry of Health and the University Hospital whilst they are on the University premises.
The Vice Chancellor again, used the opportunity to advise all parents to jealously protect their children at home to stay safe, study hard and make judicious use of the University’s online learning platform.
