The Vice-Chancellor of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson has sworn in new members of the Council of Convocation on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at the Council Chamber.
The inauguration ceremony was organised to usher in the new members of the Council as the term of office of the old members of the Council ended on 31st December 2021. An election to enact new members was held on 23rd November 2021.
The 9-member Council of Convocation chaired by Dr. Emmanuel Degraft Johnson Owusu-Ansah has Dr. (Mrs.) Cynthia Amaning Danquah, Dr. Samson Pandam Salifu, Dr. Felix Apiribu, Dr. Eric Opoku Osei, Dr. Daniel Opoku, Mr. Edward M. Borteye, Mrs. Anna A. Owusu-Ansah and Mr. Kofi Adu as members.
Dr. Emmanuel Degraft Johnson Owusu-Ansah, Chairman of the new Council of Convocation, commended the University Management for their continued support for convocation. On behalf of his members, he promised to collaborate with Management to continue the work of the old council to deliver their mandate and build on the successes achieved. He acknowledged the fact that the old members of the council assumed office during the COVID-19 pandemic yet, they worked diligently to chalk some great achievements.
He promised his utmost commitment to work with his members to the best of their capabilities.
Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson expressed gratitude to the outgone members for the outstanding work they accomplished during their time in office. She congratulated the new members of the Council and encouraged them to do the best they can for the benefit of the University.
"Leadership is servitude. It is about service to mankind and one thing about service is that when you do it and you see the smiles on the faces of the people you serve, it takes all the fatigue from you because you realize that you are achieving your objectives. We have no doubts that you would do a great honour to the task ahead," she added.
The Vice-Chancellor further pledged Management's commitment to collaborate with them as they did with the old council.
