Sinapi Aba Savings and Loans Limited has supported Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) with an amount of Twenty-five thousand Ghana cedis (GHS 25,000). The donation, which was made on Wednesday, 8th December 2021 is aimed at supporting the University with its mandate to provide good lighting systems for students off-campus.
The Chief Operations Officer for Sinapi Aba Savings and Loans Ltd, Mrs. Joyce Owusu-Dabo, leading the donation, explained that Sinapi Aba as a cooperative institution wants to be responsible within the society they operate. Therefore, when KNUST reached out to their outfit about some months ago seeking support for what they call the “Bright Campus Campaign,” they felt the need to come to the University’s aid.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson receiving the cash donation on behalf of the University expressed her delight and thanked Sinapi Aba for heeding to their call for support.
She also revealed that the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ellis Owusu-Dabo has been working to ensure that security on the KNUST Campus and its surrounding communities are habitable for students and staff. This is because, in terms of accommodation, majority of students live outside the campus, thus deciding to strengthen the security and lighting systems off-campus.
The Vice-Chancellor, again, expressed the importance of the relationship KNUST has established with Sinipa Aba and how such partnerships can benefit both institutions.
“We believe in constructive partnership. We believe in friendships. We believe in relationships. We believe in what we can do with our other corporate organisations and other partners so that we can move the mandate of this University ahead,” she said.
