The Department of Nursing of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has won the maiden edition of the National Nurses and Midwives Quiz (NNMQ) held at the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) Regional Hostel Korle Bu on Saturday,15th May, 2021.
As part of activities to commemorate “The Year of the Nurse and Midwife” celebrations, the Ministry of Health (MoH) together with the Reproductive Needs and Fitness (RENEF) Foundation and other partners organized the National Nurses and Midwives Quiz among Nursing and Midwifery Training Institutions in Ghana.
The competition began at the zonal stage with twelve (12) institutions divided into three zones: Northern, Middle and Southern. The KNUST team represented by Jerry Armah (final year Nursing student) and Faithful Adwoa Annobil (final year Midwifery student) won the Middle Zone at the zonal stages.
At the grand finale, the KNUST team exhibited a master class performance and emerged winners with 80 points followed by University of Energy and Natural Resources (winner of the Northern Zone) with University of Ghana (winner of the Southern Zone) placing third.
Present at the grand finale were the Chief Director of the Ministry of Health, Mr. Kwabena Boadu Oku-Afari and the President of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), Mrs. Perpetual Ofori Ampofo.
