The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST) has commissioned a 97-room block at the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Hostel to expand student accommodation on campus.
The Chairman of the University Council, Akyamfour Asafo Boakye Agyemang-Bonsu, led the commissioning of Block E. The university financed the project through funds from the hostel and students.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Christian Agyare, thanked the hostel management and urged it to explore further expansion to meet students’ growing accommodation needs.
“We are very grateful, and we are hoping that this will not be the end. We need to expand. If we can identify another area that we can continue with expansion, that would be good,” he said.
Prof. Agyare urged students to take care of the facility and work with the hostel management to maintain it.
“And I'm hoping students will take good care of the facility, and with the culture of maintenance supported by the management you will be able to at least use the facility for a while before any renovation is done.”

The Director of Student Affairs, Professor Marian Asantewah Nkansah, thanked the university management for supporting the project. She acknowledged her predecessor, Professor Wilson Agyei Agyare, who initiated it during his tenure as Director of Student Affairs.
She also recognised the contributions of the Hall Master, Prof. James Osei Mensah, and the Senior Tutor, Ing. Dr. (Mrs.) Dorothy Araba Yakoba Agyapong. She thanked Prof. Titus Ebenezer Kwofie for leading the team of architects who designed the building, as well as KNUST’s Development Office and other stakeholders for their support.
Prof. Nkansah said students’ contributions over the years had played a significant role in funding the project. She urged student leaders to help ensure the proper use and maintenance of the facility.
