The KNUST Basic School has held a management retreat aimed at strengthening leadership, improving administrative efficiency, and advancing strategic school governance.
The retreat brought together members of the school’s leadership to explore key areas including financial management, institutional vision, behavioural and legal issues in education, and the use of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence to support school transformation.

Resource persons, including Deputy Registrar at the Human Resource Division, Mr. Festus Nyame; Head of the Basic School, Rev. Mrs. Irene O. Nkansah; Assistant Accountant at the Basic School, Mr. Ernest Fianko; and Senior ICT Assistant, Mr. Thompson Bright Kwabena Yankyerah, led discussions on governance structures, budgeting and fee management, as well as the role of leadership in shaping a cohesive and forward-looking institution.

Sessions also examined how schools can better manage student behaviour within legal frameworks while maintaining a conducive learning environment.
As part of the programme, the management team undertook a working visit to the Basic School of the University of Cape Coast, where they exchanged ideas and best practices with their counterparts, reinforcing collaboration between the two institutions.
Rev. Mrs. Irene O. Nkansah was happy the workshop has equipped participants with practical insights expected to enhance decision-making, strengthen operations, and position the KNUST Basic School to respond effectively to evolving demands in education.
