The Independence Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has refurbished the Ayeduase Health Centre, a health facility at a community near the University. The total refurbishment cost Twenty-Two Thousand Ghana Cedis (₵22,000).
The Hall Tutor, Dr. Samuel Nortey stated that, repair works at the Health Centre included rewiring of the Centre, replacement of water closets and other sanitary accessories, reroofing, painting, water works and provision of a new sign post.
He said in celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Hall, the refurbishment forms part of their corporate social responsibility and also part of giving back to the community in which the University operates. He continued that the community as land owners have had a good relationship with the University since its inception. In this light, members of the Hall enquired from the administrators of the Health Centre who made them aware of the need for a facelift.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kwasi Obrir-Danso, stated that the University and the community continue to live in harmony and support each other. Therefore, the refurbished facility adds to earlier interventions by the University. He also announced that fifty (50) laptops are ready to be donated to the Ayeduase Catholic School.
The Chief of Ayeduase, Nana Opoku Agyemang Bawua Nsafo III, thanked management and members of the Independence Hall for coming to the aid of the community. He assured them that the Centre would be maintained to be able to continue to serve residents of the community.
Nana Opoku Agyemang also used the occasion to appeal to the University management to provide street lights to the town in order to reduce the incidents of crime in the area.
