The Chief Executive Officer of Rema Jason Ventures, Kumasi, Frank Awuah Agyei, a philantrophist, is set to construct a six hundred thousand Ghana Cedi extension block of the Maternity Block of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Hospital.
Mr Awuah Agyei assisted by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso, cut the sod for the commencement of the project and planted a commemorative tree last friday. The KNUST Hospital Extension Block, when completed, would house wards and consulting rooms.
Mr. Agyei Awuah stated that his decision to solely fund the construction of an extension to the maternity block was borne out of his desire to contribute to quality healthcare and delivery to patrons of the hospital. He said, he decided to come to the aid of the University after paying a visit to a sick family member who had come to access the health facility some time ago.
Expressing his gratitude to Mr. Awuah, Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso, the Vice-Chancellor, on behalf of management said it was rare for someone, outside the University community to voluntarily promise and fulfil same of constructing a befitting modern edifice for the University Hospital.
Professor Obiri-Danso prayed that the philantrophist would have the necessary strength to continue his good work and pledged management’s support in constructing the maternity block.
The project is set to be completed in twelve months.
