In furtherance to the Vice-Chancellor’s efforts at beautifying and modernising facilities on campus, the College of Art and Build Environment (CABE) has refurbished state-of-the–art, digitised washrooms for senior members. The washroom, which is the first of its kind in the University, is located at the Faculty of Built Environment was jointly commissioned by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso and the Provost of the College, Professor Joshua Ayarkwa. Rev. Fr. Dr. Victor Quagraine dedicated the facility.
In his address, Professor Ayarkwa noted that the importance of the environment and the level of cleanliness that befit an institution cannot be overemphasised. Professor Ayarkwa continued that before the refurbishment, the situation was an eyesore which did not befit a premier Faculty of Built Environment.
He continued that sanitation was not the best and therefore stakeholders decided to completely refurbish the washroom for male and female senior members as well as guests. The facility has Information Communication Technology (ICT) incorporated with a digital access control using staff identity card. It also has modern water closet, urinal bowls, sinks and dispensers and is disability friendly. In addition to the washrooms, the walk way of the College has also been renovated.
Professor Kwasi Obiri Danso, Vice-Chancellor, commended the Colleges that have joined efforts at the modernisation and beautification of the University and commended them for their efforts. He also called for the use of the identity cards to help in branding of the University. He further called for support from the Colleges to ensure management achieve its development plans.
The refurbishment of the access control washrooms was made possible with technical support from Architect Mrs. Oppong Peprah, the Works and Development office and Stivo Construction Limited.
