Agricultural Manufacturing Group (AMG) has donated 50-brand new Avita laptop computers to Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on the 15th of December 2021. This is in response to support the Vice-Chancellor's initiative to “Support One Needy Student with One Laptop (SONSOL)." A delegation from AMG made the presentation to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson at the Council Chamber of KNUST.
The donation is in line with AMG's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to support students in public universities in Ghana, according to Mr. Samuel Laryea, the company's Human Resource Manager. This, he believes, will help produce high-quality graduates who will be valuable to companies like AMG.
He also expressed his satisfaction on how the University is setting good standards in several sectors with the Ghana and globally and pledged the company's and his own support for the University.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson emphasized that KNUST, as the country's leading science and technology university, values partnerships that would help the University in the development of holistic future leaders. KNUST adopted a hybrid teaching and learning strategy (virtual and in-person) due to Covid-19, she noted, necessitating the 'SONSOL' project which seeks to support needy students with laptops to bring every student on board to participate in the online teaching and learning.
Professor (Mrs.) Dickson appreciated the AMG for aiding the University. She reassured the delegation of KNUST’s commitment to ensure that AMG presents the laptop computers by themselves to genuine needy students who meet the required criteria. The Vice-Chancellor urged the company to offer internship and employment opportunities for such students.
Ms. Yvette Nsiah Gyima, the Export Manager, Mr. Nana Gyebi Obeng Boateng, the I.T Manager, Mr. Fred Buadi, the Business Manager, Ms. Lady Pokuwaah Bonsu, the Estate Marketing Manager, and Mr. Isaac Opoku Berchie, the Sales and Marketing Manager, were also in attendance from AMG.
