Technip, a world leader in Oil and Gas has presented a sponsorship package to the Centre for Business Development (CBD) KNUST. The package consists of ten computers, UPS and networking facilities to furnish the computer room of the CBD.
In his speech, Mr. Ralph Nyadu Addo, the Head of the CBD said that Technip had assisted the centre in numerous ways. These included furniture, a Canon photo- copier, an LCD projector, a personal computer, a multi-purpose colour printer, a double-door fridge, a television and a DVD player. He added that the Technip Computer Room and Resource Centre would assist CBD to kick-start activities under the Kumasi Business Incubator (KBI) which had been on the drawing board for over two years. He said twelve students from the College of Engineering had been employed to work with the CBD and Technip team. The students would have access to the computer room to do further studies and research.
Rohn Alban, the Engineering Manager of Technip said Technip strongly believed in the training and development of human resources and therefore found it important to invest in the education of students. He said that to promote the Kumasi Business Incubator, the computer room had been furnished to enable the new project students and other students to have access to the internet to help boost their research work.
Mr. Jeremie Yves, Country Manager's Assistant of Technip, announced that fifteen of their staff were graduates from KNUST and hoped that the partnership with the university would be for the mutual benefit of both Technip and KNUST.
Miss Adobea Quaysin, the Compliance Officer Technip, made a presentation of some books for the university to Professor William Otto Ellis, the Vice-Chancellor of KNUST.
Professor Peter Donkor, Pro Vice-Chancellor of KNUST and Chairman of the CBD board was highly appreciative of the role of corporate partners like Technip who in numerous ways support the University in the training and equipping of students. He said by providing internships and partnership students would be well-trained to face the challenges of corporate bodies.
