The Governing Council of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST) has honoured former Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor David Asamoah, for his service and contributions to the university’s development.
At a ceremony in the Council Chamber, Prof. Asamoah thanked the university’s leadership, council members, staff and the wider university community for their support during his tenure.
He expressed gratitude to the Chancellor, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for supporting him in the role.
“I want to thank Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, our Chancellor, for the support to my position,” he said.
He also thanked the Chairman of the Governing Council, Akyamfour Asafo Boakye Agyemang-Bonsu, for his guidance and commitment to the university’s development, citing his work on proposals to support its growth.
“And I want to thank you, Nana. Nana also gave me a lot of advice, wisdom, and especially your love for the university and how you want the university to go up there. I always say that Nana has written a lot of proposals,” he added.
Prof. Asamoah acknowledged the contributions of council members, faculty, senior and junior staff, and others who supported his tenure.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the university and assured the Vice-Chancellor that he remained available to assist while on sabbatical.
“Even though I'm still with KNUST, even though I'm on sabbatical, anytime I am needed to carry on any work with KNUST, I just want to assure the VC that I'm around and I have the support.”
Prof. Asamoah served as KNUST’s 23rd Pro Vice-Chancellor.
