The Vice-Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST), Prof. Christian Agyare, has pledged to transform the TCC International Centre for Innovation, Manufacturing, Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship (TCC-CIMET) and strengthen its engagement with stakeholders, particularly in technology transfer and emerging technologies.

Prof. Agyare made the commitment following his swearing-in as Board Chairman of TCC-CIMET by the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu.

In his remarks, Prof. Agyare said KNUST, under his leadership, would work closely with the Director-General of TCC-CIMET, Prof. Francis Davis, and other stakeholders to develop strategies to improve internally generated funds (IGF) and mobilise resources to support the Centre’s programmes and initiatives.

He also appealed to the Ministry of Education to sustain its support and cooperation with KNUST as the University works to strengthen its contribution to innovation, technology transfer, manufacturing and entrepreneurship.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by the Secretary-General of the Ghana Commission for UNESCO, Dr. Osman Tahidu Damba; KNUST Registrar, Mr. Benjamin Boampong Owusu; KNUST Finance Officer, Mr. Charles Nsiah BA(Hons), MBA, CA, FCCA, PhD; Director-General of TCC-CIMET, Prof. Francis Davis; and other stakeholders.

The constitution of the Board forms part of the implementation of the tripartite agreement between UNESCO, the Government of Ghana and KNUST, which provides a framework for strengthening TCC-CIMET’s mandate in innovation, manufacturing, technology transfer, entrepreneurship and skills development across Africa.

The partnership brings together UNESCO, the Government of Ghana and KNUST to enhance TCC-CIMET’s contribution to technology transfer, innovation and industrial development in Ghana and beyond.

As Board Chairman, Prof. Agyare is expected to provide strategic leadership and oversight to support the Centre’s mandate while deepening collaboration among academia, government, industry and international development partners.

Under the leadership of Prof. Francis Davis, TCC-CIMET continues to advance its work in innovation, technology transfer, manufacturing, skills development and entrepreneurship, with a focus on strengthening the connection between research, industry and communities.

The new Board is expected to provide strategic direction for TCC-CIMET’s growth and further strengthen its contribution to Ghana’s industrial and socio-economic development.
