The Managing Director of SecurityShade Ltd, Mr Emmanuel Obeng, has donated five new laptops to the Vice-Chancellor's Support One Needy Student with One Laptop (SONSOL) Project at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST).

Presenting the laptops, Mr Obeng said the company was inspired to support the initiative after witnessing its positive impact on students' academic lives.

He said SecurityShade Ltd had previously donated three laptops to the project and was pleased to contribute an additional five laptops to support brilliant but financially challenged students.

"We have seen and heard about the initiative and decided to support this good cause," he said.

The SONSOL Project, spearheaded by Vice-Chancellor Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson, provides laptops to brilliant but financially challenged students to enhance teaching, learning and research.

Receiving the donation, Professor Dickson commended Mr Obeng for his continued support and contributions to the initiative since its inception.

She said KNUST remains committed to creating an inclusive learning environment where no student is disadvantaged because of limited access to digital learning tools.

"We have invested so much in bridging the digital divide as an institution, but we cannot do it alone. That is why we appeal to organisations like yours to support this initiative," she said.

Professor Dickson appealed to SecurityShade Ltd and other organisations to continue supporting the SONSOL Project as the University prepares to usher in a new Vice-Chancellor in the coming days.

She also called on corporate organisations, alumni, philanthropists and individuals to partner with KNUST to sustain the initiative.
