Professor (Mrs.) Adwoa Bemah Boamah Mensah has been elected Vice Dean of the School of Nursing and Midwifery (SONM) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST).
She secured 14 votes, representing 70% of the votes cast, in the 2026 vice-deanship election.
Prof. Boamah Mensah is an Associate Professor in KNUST's Department of Nursing and a registered nurse with expertise in Oncology and Adult Health Nursing. Her research focuses on cancer prevention and early detection, palliative care, maternal health, respectful maternity care and the experiences of patients and caregivers. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and has collaborated with researchers and institutions across Africa and beyond.
As Vice Dean, Prof. Boamah Mensah will support the Dean in providing academic and administrative leadership, advancing the School's strategic priorities, promoting research and innovation, and enhancing the training of future nursing and midwifery professionals.
In accordance with the University's Statutes, her appointment is subject to approval by the University Council on the recommendation of the Academic Board.
