The Centre for Business Development (CBD), in collaboration with the Ashanti Regional Chapter of the Ghana Chamber of Commerce, the Kumasi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has organised a training workshop on leadership for members of the Kumasi Chamber of Commerce.
According to Head of the CBD, Mr. Samuel Yaw Akomeah, the maiden workshop on leadership, exposed participants to topics such as Qualities of a Leader, Effective Supervision, Leading and Managing Change, Leading Innovation and Communication. He noted that the feedback from the event would enable the Centre to roll out more training to suit their needs.
Mr. Akomeah revealed that every month, the Centre would provide training for members of the Chamber in order to strengthen academia-industry relationships. He said through the training, the Centre would get to know the problems of industry and they would in turn also get to know what academia does and can offer to help them. He was hopeful at making the programme a consistent and a regular one.
Giving a background to the training, he noted that he had been organizing training programmes for them at their outfit over some time on a personal level as an academic which has resulted in the training on leadership skills by the Centre. He hoped, it would go a long way to help them manage the people and the business.
The Regional Treasurer of the KCCI, Edward Yaw Afriyie, was very grateful for the partnership. He said a lot of discussions have been ongoing and the training is one of the outcomes of the meetings with the Centre. He said the members have benefited immensely from the workshop and would utilize the knowledge gained in their businesses. Mr. Afriyie said the KCCI needs skills training in human resources, customer service and other areas to help manage their businesses effectively as businessmen/women.
Participants were awarded certificates at the end of the training.
