Ms. Sandra Amarquaye, an alumna of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST), has been named PR Professional Practitioner of the Year at the 2025 Institute of Public Relations (IPR) Ghana Excellence Awards.
Ms. Amarquaye, the corporate communications manager at Karpowership Ghana Company Limited, was recognised for her work in strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, corporate social responsibility and reputation management.
Her career spans more than a decade in journalism and corporate communications. After studying at KNUST, she worked at Multimedia Group Limited and later at TV3, where she covered the energy sector before moving into corporate communications.
At Karpowership Ghana, her responsibilities include media relations, stakeholder engagement and community initiatives, supporting the company’s relationships with employees, institutions and communities.
Ms. Amarquaye attributed the recognition to collaboration with colleagues in Ghana and at the company’s headquarters.
“This award is not just a personal achievement; it is a recognition I share with the entire Karpowership team,” she said.
She said she remained committed to using communication to build trust, strengthen partnerships and support stakeholders and communities.
The honour follows her recognition as Internal Communicator of the Year at the previous IPR Ghana Excellence Awards. She was also named among Ghana’s Top 10 Women in PR in 2024 and received the Community Development and Relations Leadership Impact Award at the Sustainability and Social Investment Awards.
Karpowership Ghana also received the Best in Crisis Communications award at the ceremony.
