ADVANCED OPTICAL MICROSCOPY IN BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH

Agency: Dept. of Genetics & Cell Biology – Molecular Cell Biology Maastricht University,

Purpose: The Maastricht University has opened positions via Trialect, for either a 6‐week or 12‐week experimental period on Advanced Optical Microscopy in Biomedical Research. Students can do this internship either alone or as a group of 4. In the first week of the project, the candidates will engage into literature on the various advanced microscopy techniques available in our lab (Nuance spectral microscopy, super‐resolution STED microscopy, Two‐photon microscopy) and the specific biomedical topic. If the students arrive before 11th of June, they can follow a dedicated course on these imaging techniques, given in week June 11 to 15. In the first and second week, we will also teach them to handle the microscopes and do experiments on their own. Since obtaining ethical protocols for animal experiments is not feasible within the short period for the project, we will refrain from in vivo animal projects. We have several ongoing projects that could be interesting for the candidates, but of course projects will be selected ad hoc and in agreement with the learning goals of the students Program
