African Centre for Career Enhancement and Skill Support (ACCESS)

ACCESS is a German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) supported project under the Exceed Initiative with funding from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The project is being implemented by a consortium of 7 universities: 6 African universities coordinated by Leipzig University.

As part of activities for 2022, a 5-day Summer School will be hosted by the partner university, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, from 16th May to 20th May 2022 in Ghana (Akosombo and Kumasi).

ACCESS, therefore, is inviting applications from interested PhD students and young faculty to participate in this Summer School in Ghana. The project will provide participants with accommodation, transportation, food and basic logistics for the summer school. No per diem will be paid, because DAAD rules does not permit it.

The Summer School will explore issues around the topic “The Future of Work: A Focus on Employability Skills Development”.

Participants are expected to acquire theoretical and practical insights on the dynamics and complexities in the global employment market. It will also expose individuals to the kind of skills potential employees need to survive and thrive in today’s, and the future world of work. Experienced policy makers, industry giants, entrepreneurs, researchers and successful alumni from the 7 countries have been invited to share their experiences. This will be delivered through a mix of lectures and practical hands-on sessions.

Participants will also have the opportunity to meet and network with other participants from Ghana, Benin, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tunisia and Germany.
