Mr. Yaw Nimo-Baffour is an alumnus of the University of Ghana Business School and the Institute of Professional Studies. He holds an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) certificate from the University of Ghana in 2003 and a Master Class Certificate in E-Learning and Digital Marketing in 2018. In the same year, he was honoured with a Doctor in Business Administration certificate from the London Graduate School.
Prior to his appointment as the Finance Officer of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in 2014, he worked as the Fund Manager of AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited; Finance Director of AngloGold Ashanti (Guinea); Finance Manager (Corporate), Ashanti Goldfields Co. Ltd; Finance Manager, Ashanti Goldfields Co. Ltd; Senior Financial Accountant, Ashanti Goldfields Co. Ltd – Obuasi, and Chief Audit Officer, State Insurance Company.
He serves on statutory committees and non-statutory committees which include the Development Committee of Council; the University Council (In attendance) University Tender Committee; Business and Executive Committee; Standing and Finance Committee of Council; Investment Committee; GUSSS Management Board; Administration Appointments and Promotions Committee (Senior Members –Administrative and Professional); Strategic Planning and Monitoring Committee; Board of Survey; the Committee of Registrars and Finance Officers – CRFO (Joint Committee of Registrars and Finance Officers/Directors of the Public Universities of Ghana) – which also serves as Advisory Board to the Vice Chancellors Ghana (VCG); CRFO (In-Attendance at VCG Meetings as the Ministerial Council of VCG).
As part of his 24 years’ experience in finance and financial accounting, he has successfully streamlined financial management by developing accounting policies and procedural manual, institutionalised an investment policy, implemented an integrated computerised accounting system for handling payroll, set up the student accounts and ultimately, financial accounting across Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He also managed the Carbon in Leach Processing Plant (CIP) construction, worth $100 million in Guinea and implemented Ashanti Goldfields’ Accounting System in the London office, increased AngloGold Ashanti’s Employees Provident Fund from $27 million to $40 million within 4years, designed and implemented AngloGold Ashanti Ghana’s expatriate’s payroll system.
He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana (ICAG), Chairman of the Audit Committee of National Petroleum Commission and a member of Kumasi Technical University Audit Committee. He possesses invaluable experience in fund management, keen on details and accuracy with distinct analytical skills. He has strong leadership skills and able to work under pressure.
Mr. Nimo-Baffour is a Christian who fellowships at Calvary Temple Assemblies of God. He is married and blessed with three children.
