KNUST Commissions Fire Station

KNUST and the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) have officially commissioned a Modern fire station and a fire tender at KNUST. The fire station, located near the KNUST Hospital is equipped with a functioning fire tender which was donated by the government of Ghana. The GH¢55,277.50 project was funded by the university in collaboration with the GNFS. A guard of honour was mounted to welcome the Ashanti Regional Commander of the GNFS, Mr. Philip Aheng-Mensah.

KNUST Signs MoU with Akate Farms

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with one of Ghana’s versatile and prominent poultry farms, Akate Farms and Trading Company Ltd. The two parties announced collaboration in education, research, commercial activities and projects through a public-private partnership.

Danish Universities And Companies Donate To KNUST

Under the auspices of Building Stronger Universities (BSU), the Danish coordinator of the Environment and Climate Platform of BSU, Dr. Susanne Lildal Amsinck and the Engineering College of Aarhus University in Denmark have donated some equipment to the College of Engineering. The local students’ branch of the humanitarian organization Engineers Without Borders facilitated the donation as a result of correspondence between the IPO, Prof. Carl Jakobsen of Aarhus University and Dr. K. O. Boateng of the College of Engineering. The equipment forms part of donations from Danish universities and companies.

Chief of Army Staff, Ghana Visits KNUST

The newly appointed Chief of Army Staff- COAS, Major General Richard Opoku-Adusei visited KNUST to bid the university farewell as he leaves for Accra for duty. He was the General Officer Commanding, Northern Command of the Ghana Army from July, 2011 to March, 2013. During this period he worked closely with KNUST to ensure peace and safety on the KNUST campus and its environs.

School Of Veterinary Medicine Gets New Bus

The School of Veterinary Medicine, KNUST, has been given a new bus. The new 30 seater Nissan Coaster bus was donated by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND). Professor William Otoo Ellis officially handed the key of the bus to Dr. Raphael D. Folitse, Dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine. Professor Ellis thanked the GETFUND for their continous support for the School and the University as a whole. He also tasked the school to take good care of the bus and to use it for the intended purpose.

Tel Aviv University Explores Cooperation with KNUST

A two-member delegation from the Leon Recanati Graduate School of Business Administration, Tel Aviv University, has visited and held discussions with officials of KNUST. Professor William Otoo-Ellis, Vice-Chancellor of KNUST received the delegation in the presence of Prof. J. M. Frimpong, Dean of KNUST School of Business and Prof. Obiri Danso, Dean of the International Programmes Office. The discussions centered on possible ways of improving and maintaining an effective Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme at KNUST.

KNUST Organises Dinner Dance for Athletes

KNUST has held its annual dinner dance for sportsmen and women during which deserving athletes were given awards. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. William Otoo-Ellis, who gave the awards, commended the awardees for their contributions to lifting the name of KNUST. He further urged them to continue with the tremendous performance for many more of such awards.

Art Lecturer Receives Outstanding Coordinator's Award

The International Wood Culture Society (IWCS) has given the outstanding coordinator’s award to Dr. Eric Appau Asante, a lecturer of African Art and Culture, in the Department of General Art Studies, College of Art and Social Sciences (CASS), following his appointment as the Country Coordinator for IWCS. He received the award, a certificate and a citation, at the first World Wood Day (WWD) and International Day of Forests (IDF) celebration hosted by the IWCS in Karimjee Hall, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The celebration was aimed at raising awareness on cultural approaches to achieving the theme, “Wood is Good”.

Danish Team Visits KNUST

As part of their monitoring of the two Danida pilot research projects now the North Driven Development Research Projects and South Driven Development Research Projects being implemented by the Department of Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness and Extension with some Danish Universities, a team from Danida and the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has visited KNUST to hold discussions with the research teams on the progress of the South Driven Development Projects of which countries like Ghana, Tanzania and Nepal are the beneficiaries.

Ramapo College Initiates Exchange Programmes with KNUST

Members of the Ramapo-Ghana Exchange Initiative, in conjunction with the Roukema Centre have proposed a wide range of student, faculty, staff and administrative exchanges between Ramapo College in New Jersey and various institutions and organizations in Ghana. In view of this, a committee of the initiative from the Ramapo College has visited Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, which has been chosen as the central Ghanaian site for the academic and cultural exchange programmes.

FUSSAG (KNUST) Cuts Sod for Staff Quarters

The local branch of the Federation of University Senior Staff Association of Ghana (FUSSAG) at KNUST has cut the sod for the commencement of construction of proposed staff quarters for members of the association at Esienimpong, near Ejisu. It is a joint venture between the Association, AKA Consult and the Kumawuman Rural Bank. The tape was cut and a royal palm tree was planted on the site to signify the commencement of the project.

Anglican University Affiliates with KNUST
