The College of Art and Social Sciences, an amalgamation of Five Faculties and a Research Centre, was established by the University Statute, Statute 33, which was promulgated on 29 th October, 2004. The Provost officially assumed duty on 17 th December 2005. It is made up of the faculties of Fine Art, Industrial Art, Social Sciences, Law, Business School and the Centre for Cultural and African Studies which is the College Research Centre.

The College, the largest at KNUST in terms of student population which stands at 7000, and a vibrant teaching and research staff population of 154 , is positioned adequately well to fulfill its mandate of training graduates over the years who are performing effectively and efficiently in several areas of the economy, namely, education, health, the environment, politics, culture, business, etc.
